unique week
- We are celebrating the 5th Annual UNIQUE WEEK May 14th-18th. We are celebrating UNIQUE WEEK because we believe that all students in WCS are worthy of respect for their unique abilities and disabilities and we believe in their right, need, and desire to achieve their full potential. We also believe that families, teachers, and peers play a critical role in promoting the highest possible achievement of each child. We hope that UNIQUE WEEK will bring together teachers, families, students, and community resources as we strive to have each individual student be successful at school and in the community.  Everyday during that week, students in all of the WCS buildings will hear announcements and watch inspiring videos that reinforce the idea that we are all unique with different abilities and disabilities.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of why it is important to embrace everyone’s uniqueness!  We hope that you will join us in celebrating UNIQUENESS!

Monday (5/14) Inside Out Day
Everyone is unique in their own way.  Some people struggle with expressing themselves, but have a lot to say on the inside. Today we wear our clothes inside out to show that what’s on the inside is just as important.

Tuesday (5/15) Mismatch Day
No two people are the same. It’s important to celebrate our differences. “To make a difference, you must be different.”

Wednesday (5/16) Take a Walk in someone else’s shoes:  “Wear two different shoes”
Sometimes you need to walk in another person’s shoes to know how they feel. We wear two different shoes today  to show our uniqueness and to demonstrate understanding of other’s differences.

Thursday (5/17) Hawaii theme
Today we wear Hawaiian clothes in order to make a splash by being unique.

Friday(5/18) Orange & Black School Spirit Day -
Today, you are wearing orange and black to show that we are a school community and no matter our differences we can appreciate and celebrate everyone’s unique qualities
