From the Superintendent's Desk
Welcome to the Wilmington City School District, home of the Hurricane. Our district serves nearly 3100 students in an environment of excellence, focusing on the three A's of academics, the arts, and athletics. I hope you'll take some time to get to know us and the community that we serve.
WCS is comprised of three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. We strive to provide the highest quality education possible for each and every student. In addition to our rigorous academic program, our district provides a wide variety of athletic opportunities, a rich fine arts program, access to technology at every grade level, and employs an outstanding teaching staff.
We engage learners, value diversity, embrace technology, encourage community involvement, foster creativity, and provide a safe and caring learning environment designed to inspire students to reach their full potential.
We serve a diverse student body that supports the FFA "Bring Your Tractor to School" day, at the same time they are building a student-run tech support squad for our new Chromebook 1:1 technology initiative. With a Universal Design for Learning approach in our classrooms, we are creating equal access to the highest quality education for each and every student.
Each school day at WCS is an opportunity for discovery, creativity, and learning for every single student.
Our Mission Statement:
An award-winning, diverse school district, in partnership with parents and community, is to develop in all students the knowledge and skills needed to become productive citizens in the global community by challenging each student with a rigorous, relevant, and stimulating curriculum in a safe and caring environment.
We may be a little biased, but we think Wilmington is a tremendous community in which to live, work, and raise a family. Located in northern Clinton County, it's the best of both worlds. We have all the benefits of a closely knit rural community, yet we are within an hours drive of the larger cities of Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus.
We have lots of green spaces, summer festivals, farmer's markets, a historic theater, quaint shops, beautiful outdoor murals, great restaurants, a thriving college, growing industries, and a supportive community.
